Dr. Elisa Song MD, is the founder and director of Whole Child Wellness in Redwood City, CA, a clinic that integrates traditional pediatrics with holistic nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and traditional Chinese Medicine.
Her philosophy is to integrate the best of western and complementary and alternative medicine to meet the unique needs of each individual child. Dr. Song is board-certified in pediatrics and holistic medicine, and is a fellow of the AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics.
Practice
Dr. Song’s practice combines various complementary and alternative healing modalities with conventional western pediatrics. This involves integrating the best of homeopathy, functional medicine (holistic nutrition), herbal medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture and Chinese herbs) with the best that western medicine has to offer.

She is also trained in bio-therapeutic drainage (using homeopathic compounds to allow the body to cleanse and drain itself of toxins) and she specializes in treating children with autism.
Philosophy
Dr. Song is a strong advocate of tailoring healing practices to individual child’s needs and she begins each session with a lengthy meeting with parents who often are not familiar with various integrative practices. As an MD, her foundation in traditional western medicine allows her to reassure parents that she knows the strengths and weaknesses of different complementary approaches.
Dr. Song has seen that parents can often make simple nutritional changes that will greatly enhance the health of their children without the use of medication, and these changes ultimately improve the health of the family as a whole. A strong part of Dr. Song’s philosophy is that she cannot enhance the health of a child without also enhancing the health of the parents and the entire family.
Credentials
Dr. Song graduated with distinction from StanfordUniversity, attended NYU School of Medicine, and trained in Pediatrics at UCSFMedicalCenter. She also earned a Master's degree in public policy from UC Berkeley. Dr. Song has additional training in Functional Medicine/Holistic Nutrition, Homeopathy & Bio-therapeutic drainage, Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture, and Herbal Medicine. She is also a registered Defeat Autism Now (DAN!) doctor.
Passion
Dr. Song’s life path brought her to pediatrics because of an early passion for working with children, and her initial desire to be a teacher evolved into a career in pediatrics because of her interest in the healing arts.
Dr. Song was drawn to integrative medicine because she became dissatisfied with the way western medicine does not always look fully at the cause of illness. For example, in the case of asthma, western medicine tends to treat the symptoms rather than looking at the path of physiology and finding the root cause of the problem in order to ultimately heal and cure the condition. Using nutrition, homeopathy, and Chinese medicine, Dr. Song finds the integrative approach much more rewarding than simply using traditional western practices.
