Scott Olson, Naturopathic doctor, began his search for personal and environmental health at an early age. Stumbling across his father’s diet book, Scott was fascinated by the thought that diet could have an impact on health. This began his search for what constitutes optimal human nutrition, which ultimately culminated in his attendance at a naturopathic school.
Scott’s earned his first degree in History/Government from a small liberal arts college in Southern Colorado. After college, Scott worked and traveled extensively for Greenpeace throughout the early 1990s, experiencing firsthand the multitude of the environmental problems in North America.
Illness changed the course of Scott’s life twice.
While living in Tennessee with his wife, Scott injured his back. With his wife’s gentle prodding, he ended up visiting a chiropractor. The moment he stepped into the chiropractor’s office, he knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. The combination of natural remedies along with the extensive knowledge of the body was fascinating to him.
Scott and his wife moved to Portland, Oregon to attend chiropractic school. While finishing up the prerequisites for chiropractic school, illness, once again, altered the course of Scott’s life. After being exposed to harmful chemicals, Scott went in search of a doctor. Luck would have it that his chiropractic doctor was away on vacation. Looking through the yellow pages, he discovered a naturopathic school and they helped him detoxify and regain his health. He was later accepted to naturopathic school.
Scott set up a naturopathic practice in Littleton, Colorado. While still seeing patients, Scott started to write on health and medical issues and now works exclusively as a freelance medical and health writer. Scott and his wife have three children.
Having worked for Greenpeace, at health food stores, and as a naturopathic physician, Scott understands the interconnectedness of the planet’s and our personal health.
