I was taking a stroll to lunch today when I discovered what looked like snow... "in the middle of san francisco" you say? "it's only 2007, global warming hasn't hit us with that yet" you say? to answer such concerns i took it upon myself to inspect this strange occurance up close. and yes, just as i suspected, it was styrofoam, loads of styrofoam. Off whiteish bits of styrofoam that worked to threaten the very drain that was to drain the street water in times of imperative drainage. yes, i was bothered; luckily, i had a place to take this feeling. I called the city water concerns line. i was quickly directed to an operator who nailed down the precise location of said bother-causing agent. she took me seriously, she was respectful, and she even gave me a service number that allows me to follow up on my complaint. i am currently under the impression that something will be done to clean up the pollutants that threaten this northeastern intersection drain screen in order to prevent it from threatening the ocean and sea life. for future reference you can do it too, it is on a little blue plaque by each drain: 695-2020 thanks, and i will most definitely keep you all updated as i learn more
