i received this today:
You and I know that global warming may be the greatest threat that civilization faces.
Now we need to wake up Congress and the Bush Administration to this fact.
On April 14, we'll be sounding the alarm – as thousands of people across America take part in Step It Up rallies and gatherings.
Inspired by environmental author Bill McKibben, these climate change gatherings will take place in America's most iconic places – on top of the melting glaciers on Mt. Rainier, on the levees of New Orleans, and even underwater on the endangered coral reefs off Key West.
In San Francisco, where sea level rise threatens this proud city, community groups and individuals will be coming together for the biggest climate change event the city has ever experienced!
Starting at 11 a.m., in the Presidio, hundreds will gather to show their support for action against climate change. The event will feature music, clean energy demonstrations and the latest in new car technologies.
NRDC, as you may know, has an office in San Francisco, and we're calling on all our Members and activists in the area to be part of this critical climate change rally.
As Bill McKibben says, to get Congress to take action on global warming, "we need something that looks like the civil rights movement, and we need it now."
Please let us know you'll show up on April 14 to tell Congress to "Step It Up."
Sincerely,
Frances Beinecke
