4U2ReUse Y'all

May. 13, 2008 |

Bag1 Florida mom and former surgeon, Bibi Rogers, discovered after one afternoon at the beach that ripped and flawed kite boarding sails are usually tossed into the garbage. Instead of teaching her son to consume irresponsibly, she wanted a way to entreat sustainability into his life and others', so she began stitching up bag carriers from old sails, vintage clothing, and organic materials she could find locally. 4U2ReUse sells a few different versions of doggie doo bag carriers (before the bag is filled, mind you), easily attachable to handbags, backpacks, belt loops, or pet leashes, made from fabulous fabrics and delightfully portable. Dr. Rogers says: "By reusing, we reduce. And by reducing, we make the world a cleaner, safer place, one bag at a time." These also make great little change purses.

...just wanted to add

Hello everyone. I just wanted to add that: At 4U2ReUSE we are against NEW plastic bags. What we support is reusing those plastic bags already in circulation in an appropriate manner*; by reusing them for shopping purposes, we reduce demand on new ones, and at the same time we raise awareness amongst fellow shoppers. Although “reusable” shopping bags are all the rage, somehow we still end up accumulating plastic ones. With the Ridley™ on board the task of eliminating new plastic bags in our household is easier. The Ridley is the only sustainable plastic bag carrier in the market, and much to our dislike, plastic lasts for 500 -1000 years and we cannot “correr un tupido velo” as they say in Spain… we cannot turn our backs to that fact. I don't. I also found that some friends quickly jumped into the conclusion that because they did not have plastic bags at home the Ridley™ was useless… well no. They soon realized that whenever they purchased produce (carrots, apples, broccoli, potatoes…) they ended up using those plastic bags in a roll supplied by supermarkets. At the end of the day, that’s plastic too. Some costumers have e-mailed me asking for biodegradable produce bags and I send them the Ridley’s™ stuffed with biodegradable produce bags…. And anyway, we get given plastic bags not only in supermarkets but bookstores, shoe shops, pharmacies, toy shops etc…. I find carrying some with me a good way of preventing new ones accumulating in my kitchen. Many thanks for your interest and for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Bibi Rogers, founder, 4U2ReUSE www.4U2ReUSE.com *using them as trash bags, or to pick up dog poop is not encouraged…. And that’s why the Kemp’s biodegradable poop bag carrier was created.
