Protect Your Peepers

Jul. 22, 2008 |

It’s UV Safety Month, so don’t lose sight of ways to protect your eyes from the sizzling sun. The more time you spend outside, the more UV radiation your eyes are exposed to, so take a look at these tips:

Sunglasses aren’t just fashion accessories.

Before you buy a new pair of shades, make sure they offer 100% protection against both types of ultraviolet radiation, UVA and UVB, which can cause skin aging and sunburns.

For optimal protection take a page from the girls of Us Weekly and choose oversized sunglasses, wraparound frames or a wide-brimmed hat

, which offer maximum coverage for the entire eye area (and a shield from the paparazzi).

Use daily sun protection

, even on your eyelids, with a minimum SPF of 15. Try a moisturizer that contains sunscreen, like Juice Beauty’s chemical-free SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer.

Be careful when the sun’s rays are the most intense

, especially between 10AM and 4PM. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and take the same precautions with your tots.
