Gut Bacteria and Food Sensitivities: Factors of Weightloss Resistance

"The area that I really am interested in talking more about that’s fascinating and not really well known is this area of gut disbiosis or bacterial overgrowth.

"First of all, our body is made up of cells, but it’s also made up of bacteria. People are often surprised to hear this. And we have more bacteria on our body than we do cells.

"If it’s good bacteria, that’s great. This is our immune defense - our gut’s our big immune defense, so this is good.

"But what happens because of poor diet, because of chronic antibiotic use, because of caffeine or alcohol or stress or low stomach acid that happens due to aging. So you’re hearing all these things and you’re probably going me, me, me. You can start to get too much bad bacteria.

Omega-3s Build Strong Bones

skeleton

Healthnotes Newswire (May 10, 2007)—A type of omega-3 fatty acid, found primarily in cold-water fish, helps to build strong bones, reports the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Most people associate osteoporosis with women, but the disease can also occur in men. Osteoporosis causes the bones to become weak and brittle, making them more prone to fractures. Whites and Asians are more likely to suffer from the disease. According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, one in four men over age 50 will develop an osteoporosis-related fracture at some point in their lives.

Are you suffering from the pollen and pollution this time of year? Want a natural fix?

There is an ancient way of cleansing the sinuses that still proves far better for your health than popping a pill.

Jala neti is nasal cleansing with saline solution. All you need is a Neti Lota(pot) (you can find them on line or possibly your local yoga studio) or even a teapot may work if the tip isn't to large or sharp.

All you do is fill the pot with luke warm water and add salt, just enough to taste. The salt balance is important. Too much or too little salt and it will burn when it goes through the nose.

Have you ever wondered why you have allergies and you siblings or friends don't? Think about allergies as a indicator button to your bodies total burden of toxins. No symptoms indicate the system is running fine. Increased symptoms indicates an overloaded system that is backed up causing runny nose, watery eyes, headaches and disturbed sleep.

Try reducing your body exposure to toxins at that time. Like limit the amount of alcohol your drink, particularly beer which has a larger allergy impact. If you take NSAIDS limit or better yet eliminate them. Eat less processed foods, lower your intake of wheat, sugar, dairy and corn products. They are the top allergenic foods. And as always, increase your intake of purified water.

Guided Imagery

Imagery, the flow of thoughts that one can see, hear, or otherwise experience in the imagination, can be valuable for healing. Research in biofeedback, hypnosis, and meditative states has shown that people have a powerful range of self-regulatory capacities.

Likewise, studies in the United States and England suggest that many health problems presented to primary care clinics are emotional, social, or familial in origin, though these problems are manifested in pain or illness.

Candy Food additives are everywhere on the supermarket shelf. Savvy shoppers seeking to eat conveniently, yet as healthfully as possible, need to learn how to read labels to steer clear of potential dietary pitfalls. Even though all of these have been deemed safe to enter the edible realm, many of these everyday chemical compounds take their toll on the body's natural balance.

Check labels for:

1. Artificial Food Colors

Some of these coloring agents are allergenic and, even worse, some have carcinogenic properties. Some artificial food colors are suspected of contributing to hyperactivity, allergies, asthma, learning problems, and concentration difficulties in children and adults. Specific foods to avoid include colored drinks, color-coated candies, gummy and chewy candies, and many colored cereals. Be especially aware of additives when using vending machines.
