Lush: Handmade Soaps and Natural Cosmetics

By dharmagypsy7 | Jun. 25, 2007 | 0 Comments|post a comment

I was walking down Midtown Manhattan and this store caught my eye. I have walked by it countless times but somehow it made an impression on me that day. Bryan Meehan, the 39-year-old Irish eco-entrepreneur and Bono Buddy who started the organic food stores Fresh & Wild, is launching  Nude, an "organic, ethical" range of cosmetics.  He called it Nude, after a suggestion from Ali Hewson - Bono's wife, and Meehan's "muse" on the project.

Of course, natural skincare is hardly new.  Meehan claims Nude that Nude will be able to package "natural" for masses of women seeking youth. Nude has all the right eco-features: It's packaging is spare -- all comprised from polypropylene, a 60 percent post-industrial recycled material. The sleeve is from from non-GM biodegradable cornstarch, which can be composted. Nude sales assistants' are well not nude but their uniforms are made from organic cotton.
