Environment Help
Not enough...but incrementally... In general, I'm trying to educated myself about and be more conscious of my overall impact on the environment. I'm trying to take small, daily steps towards conservation and reducing my "environmental footprint" (e.g. shorter showers, reusing items), consuming local organically grown food, going mostly vegetarian).
I want to explore several new technologies that might reduce my footprint including exploring purchasing a hybrid (especially plug-in hybrids, go to www.calcars.org and am looking for a local converter) or bio-diesel car. Looking at solar for the house as well as doing composting...
Health Goals
Overall, I'm focused on staying healthy through daily focus on eating right, staying active, managing my weight and stress as well as trying to get a good night's sleep every night...

Health Interests (limit 200 words)
I've had the good fortunate to have experienced good health all my life. I've been active enjoying skiing, hiking, and team sports growing up. Since moving from London to the SF Bay Area six years ago my fitness interests have gravitated and been influenced by yoga, surfing and hiking/trail running.
I've also become interested in cleansing and detoxification to revitalize my health (see below) as well as taking herbs and supplements for prevention and wellness.
I have had a few minor health concerns over he years. The last few years I've suffered from intermittent lower back pain, including two more intense episodes when I "threw out my back" while skiing.
I've also experienced a form of "early morning" insomnia for much of my life in varying degrees. I fall asleep very quickly and almost without fail but frequently wake up after 4-5 hrs in hours, sometime in the wee hours of the morning. This periodic "morning insomnia" has led me to explore herbs (Valerian) and supplements (5 HTP) and other natural sleep remedies. I'm interested in exchanging tips and experiences with other "morning insomniacs' out there...
I'm also interested in learning more about, following and advocating lifestyle that focuses on eating healthy, organic foods and sustainability. Modifications in my own diet have been influenced by some excellent books I recently have read (see below).
This January my wife and I did a 7 day juice fast (she lasted all 7, I broke after day 5) and felt lighter and more energetic afterwards. We are planning out next spring cleanse and are reading up on options. I'd love to hear from others about cleansing and detox experiences and tips...
