Over the past few weeks, I've watched with disbelief and disgust at the inept response by authorities to respond to the SF Bay area oil spill. First, the US Coast Guard misreported that the spill was only 4,000 gallons, when it was really 58,000 gallons. That delay resulted in the oil spreading out of the Bay to contaminate pristine Pacific Coast beaches.
Now, with dozens of beaches closed and over a thousand killed birds you would think that rapid clean-up and containment would be our highest priority. Well, it seems that the politicians are all about rhetoric and finger pointing with hearings being held in the SF to allocate blame. I'm in favor of that accountability, of course, but shouldn't we ask our leaders to focus now on the clean-up? Please take a minute -- yes, just a minute -- to demand that California Governor Schwarzenegger devote real resources to the clean-up...

And this isn't just for Bay Area and California residents. The SF Bay is a NATIONAL treasure. We all need to speak up if we want to protect our treasures and prevent future eco disasters from happening.
