Like Rachel, I used to get headaches a lot. I drink more water as well. I also found that certain foods cause headaches for me -- like gluten or, more recently, dairy (nasty migraine like headache). Interesting idea about relaxing the face, neck and shoulder muscles -- that's how a friend of mine gets people ready for hypnotherapy. I used to do relaxation exercises in bed before sleep and found that I (and most others) really tense their foreheads, face muscles and neck muscles. Unless you focus on relaxing them, you don't even realize you're tensing.
HI, I used to suffer from headaches quite a bit too, and for me, I found that my own habits created the painful surges in my head. Some changes I have made: I drink way more water now than I used to. Also, I found much of my pain was due to unconsciously tensing my face, neck and shoulders; I had to actively relax my body many times throughout the day and really concentrate on my breathing. It was difficult trying to retrain myself to relax and how to feel relaxed. These aren't necessarily remedies, but they may help the onset of headaches in the first place.
